Find your favourite
time on the water.
At Boogieloop, we recommend visiting from mid-July to mid-January. Here’s how we help guests choose their dates.
Our recommended season
A broad window for planning your kite escape in Praia de Macapá.
The peak months
October and November typically bring strong winds of 20–35 knots and a lot of people on the water.
A quieter favourite
In our experience, good wind and fewer people on the water than at peak season.
These recommendations come from our local experience. Check the daily forecast and ask the school about tides, launch areas and suitable riding locations.

Kite lessons with Friendly Kite
We work with Friendly Kite in Praia de Macapá, managed by Bruno, a dedicated local kitesurfer who also competes in big air events.
We can help arrange lessons with experienced, English-speaking instructors and equipment rental through the school. Tell us about your experience and what you’d like to learn so we can connect you with the team.
Ask the school which riding areas and session times suit your level and the day’s wind and tides.

How the tides change Macapá
The tide changes the size and character of the riding areas. Here’s what we usually see locally.
The lagoon
Low tide: the lagoon empties out.
High tide: the lagoon fills and connects with the river, offering flat water.
The river
Low tide: the river is roughly half its high-tide width.
High tide: it widens to around twice its low-tide width and connects with the lagoon. The river generally has light chop.
The ocean
Low tide: an exposed sandbank creates a sheltered corner of flatter water on the ocean side.
High tide: expect small, low waves.
Sandbanks, water depth and currents can change. Ask Friendly Kite which areas are accessible and suitable for your level on the day.

Your kite holiday questions
When is the best time to visit?
We recommend mid-July to mid-January. October and November are our peak kite months. August and December are also favourites for good wind and quieter sessions, based on our local experience.
Can I arrange lessons and equipment rental?
Yes. We help arrange lessons and rental through Friendly Kite, our local school partner. Contact us with your dates and riding experience to discuss availability and options.
Do tides affect where I can kite?
Yes. At low tide the lagoon empties and the river narrows; an ocean sandbank can create a sheltered flat-water corner. At high tide the river widens and joins the full lagoon. Ask Friendly Kite about water depth, currents and suitable riding areas before heading out.
Is breakfast included?
Yes. Breakfast is included daily from 08:00 to 10:00 at the pool bar.
Can non-kitesurfers enjoy a stay?
Absolutely. Enjoy the pool, garden, bar and outdoor cinema, or ask us about local boat trips and dune adventures.
